THE LEIGHTON HALL & AONB TRAIL RACE

EVENT GUIDE

FINAL RACE DAY UPDATE

We're busy away getting ready and making sure everything's ready for this weekend's 10k trail race and inaugural Leighton Hall & AONB Trail Half Marathon.

We have our last update to share for both races before we see you on Saturday.

HALF MARATHON AID STATIONS:

There are 3 aid stations on the course, one of which you will pass twice.

The aid stations are as follows:

Mile 3.1: Water aid station
Mile 6 & 8: Water and food aid station
Mile 11.2: Water aid station

We have sweets, crisps, flapjacks and peanuts to back up your own race nutrition. Please ensure you carry whatever nutrition you need during the race and use the aid station as needed.

Please remember to carry your own reusable cup or soft flask to use at the aid station as we aim to reduce waste during our events.

There are no aid stations during the 10k course, but there will be water available at the end.

RACE DAY KIT:

We advise carrying a water proof jacket, water proof trousers, hat, gloves, spare long sleeve top for both races and a map (downloadable below) particularly for the half marathon. The weather doesn't look too bad this Saturday, but in case of emergency we advise you to carry these items to keep you warm.

To keep you safe, please carry a mobile during the half marathon with the following number saved incase of emergency.

Emergency phone number: 07977 188918

RETIRING FROM THE THE 10K OR HALF MARATHON RACE:

Should you need to retire from the race, please let the closest marshal know and give them the number of your bib. If you are injured and need a support vehicle to collect you, please call the emergency number above or inform a marshal and we will collect you.

ROUTE SAFETY INFORMATION:

There are a number of road crossings on the half marathon course and a couple on the 10k course. Please stay safe and check the roads as you cross as you normally would and listen to marshal's instruction.

We will be marking the course the evening before and going back around the course in the morning to ensure everything is still in place.

If you end up off course and go a while without see a flag or arrow, retrace your steps to get back on the correct route. We will be putting plenty of arrows and flags as we always do at Pennine Trails races, but sometimes people down tamper with markings.

To help us ensure you stay on course, please download the GPX file below to make sure you stay on track.

RACE DAY MAPS:

10K ROUTE MAP

HALF MARATHON ROUTE MAP

As mentioned, both routes will be fully marked with arrows, 100s of flags (red for 10k, yellow for the half marathon) and marshalled throughout.

Last year we had a few flags moved and arrows turned the wrong way.. and despite no one going the wrong way, we have made maps and GPX files available to further ensure runners stay on the right track. Please download if your device supports it.

Please note, where the half marathon course meets the 10k course, there will be yellow flags placed along the red 10k course flags to indicate this.
