THE LEIGHTON HALL & AONB 10K COURSE DESCRIPTION

THE LEIGHTON HALL & AONB 10K TRAIL RACE ROUTE

Route Description

Distance: 10k
Elevation: 800ft

When we begun seeking out the best trail routes in and around the Pennines, we promised ourselves we'd only pick routes with the following criteria... Beautiful scenery and exciting trails, but most of all, it has to be routes we'd love to do ourselves. It's safe to say, this one is genuinely the most fun we've had seeking out any of our routes so far!

This race shows the best of Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Beginning on the stunning grounds of Leighton Hall, the race begins with a fast first mile down a country lane, leading to the Leighton Moss RSPB's Nature Reserve. A dash through the North West's largest area of Reed Beds brings you a short climb through the old woods leading to Trowbarrow Quarry. In and out of fast paced trails, the race brings you to skirt the edge of Hawes Water, before looping back around through Leighton Hall's woodland.

Now... we brag about our races, we're proud of them! But this race finish we're REALLY proud of, as you'll struggle to find a more enjoyable finish in the country. Running back into the Ground of Leighton Hall, you'll race back down the hill into the finish, with sights of the Ingleborough in the distance and Leighton Hall in the foreground. We can't wait to see you're happy finishers smiles!

THE LEIGHTON HALLHALF MARATHON COURSE DECRIPTION

THE LEIGHTON HALL HALF MARATHON TRAIL RACE ROUTE

Route Description

Distance: 13.1 Miles
Elevation: 1,971ft

The trails of Silverdale and Carnforth have too much to offer for one 10k course, which is why we are now introducing the half marathon option to explore more of the woodland trails and coastal views Silverdale is known for!

Beginning once again from the fabulous Leighton Hall grounds, the half marathon first visits the woodland trails of Warton Crag Nature Reserve. You'll then arrive at the marshlands before climbing to see epic views of the coast.

A run through the Silverdale brings you to the National Trusts 'Pepper Pot' woods where you'll climb and descend through more fantastic woodland trails.

From here, you'll reach the iconic Arnside Knott, performing a loop of the wooded hill, gaining more epic coastal views. You'll then loop back and meet up with the 10k course for more wooded trails ending with the legendary descent back down to Leighton Hall!
